Rankala Lake is situated in the heart of Kolhapur city of Maharashtra. Rankala was a Stone quarry. An earthquake occurred in the 9th Century and the quarry was filled up with water.

In 1883 dam and outlet was built at Rankala.

The Rankala Lake is spread at an area of about 202 hectares in the Southern part of Maharashtra and in the Western Ghats at 550m above sea level. 

This is a Facade Design done for a client in Bangalore, India. 

Multiple Options were given before being finalized. This project is now completed.

Earlier Rankala was used for providing water to the city but now confined to irrigational and recreational use.

Presently, lake serves as a popular picnic spot for the tourists and local residents.

The Rankala Lake Development was divided to 4 parts and worked on as a team .

This historic lake has a temple called “Sandhyamath” with a very big Nandi.

It is known for its Jain and Hindu architectural style It is also considered to be a fine example of  the Rajwada style of architecture.
